If a callback (or any listener for a debugger event) is registered in the scripting console, it is only serviced while the console is blocked waiting on some scripting call.

The only exception is if a script is loaded using the console API for loading a file (not the loadFile function in the console). In that case, the script is loaded on a separate thread and that thread handles the events.
