There is an eclipse extension that adds a theme that works much better with XGCONF. (https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/darkest-dark-theme-devstyle) Use the "Darkest Dark" theme.

The initial screen that comes up in XGCONF works ok in dark mode but as soon as you click on a module it no longer works.
